Paper-I: Objective Type (Computer-Based Examination):
Paper-I consists of four sections:

- General Awareness
Each section carries equal weight. The total duration for Paper-I is 90 minutes..

Paper-II: Descriptive Type (Pen and Paper Mode):
- Essay Writing: Candidates will be required to write a short essay in English or any other language included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
- Letter/Application Writing: Candidates may also be asked to write a formal letter or application.
- Time Duration: 30 minutes.
Paper-II is qualifying in nature and is used to test the basic language skills of the candidates. It is especially important for posts where writing ability in English or Hindi is necessary.

Important Points to Note:
- Negative Marking : There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.
- Qualifying Marks : The cut-off marks are decided by the SSC and may vary each year based on the difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates.
